Position Overview:  Responsible for ensuring projects are safely completed on time, on budget and managing all resources required to complete the tasks

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure efficient deployment and productivity of work crews
  • Enforce compliance to all client and company safety policies and procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety legislation
  • Ensure all the work permits and required documentation is obtained 
  • Review safe work plans/hazard assessment with crew prior to job commencement
  • Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections and complete follow-up activities
  • Coordinate all trades/subcontractors
  • Ensure quality plans and/or requirements are adhered to for all work performed

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Power Lineperson Certificate licensed to work in Ontario accompanied with a minimum of 5 year's experience in a lead hand or foreperson role
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with internal/external customers and partners
  • Must be physically able to perform the essential duties in all weather conditions
  • Ability to read and interpret distribution system construction drawings and supporting documents
  • Knowledge of the Electrical Safety Authority Regulation 22/04,Utility Protection Code, WHMIS, CPR, First Aid and all other applicable legislation
  • Construct and maintain energized and de-energized electrical distribution lines, streetlights and associated assets
  • Knowledge and know-how of operating underground fault locating equipment
  • Direct job planning, schedules, labour assignment
  • Provide proper leadership to team, guidance, and accountability
  • Be on duty on a scheduled basis as well as be able to respond to and deal with call-outs
  • Assist with other duties as directed
  • Operate company vehicles as required
  • Adhere to the policies and legislation, which relate to the safe construction, operation, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems
  • Must be familiar with live line work practices, rubber glove work, aerial truck, and radial boom derrick
  • Report unsafe conditions and recommend ways of improving the safety of the work environment
