Detroit River Crossing

Somerville supported a U.S. general contractor with the pipeline activities on the Canadian side of the Detroit River for the Utopia Pipeline project. Scope included supporting the directional drilling contractor and fabricating the 1300m pipe section. Other activities included drill pad setup, stringing, welding, pre-testing, coating and HDD pullback support. After installation of the river crossing Somerville completed the mainline test from the Canadian side and the installation of a pig launcher and receiver station. Furthermore, Somerville completed the final tie-ins and demolished an existing station and abandoned the old pipeline
