The entire Alberta Clipper Pipeline Project is a new 1590km crude oil pipeline extending from Hardisty Alberta, to Superior, Wisconsin. The Canadian portion of the Project entailed the construction of 1,070km of NPS36 pipeline from the Hardisty Terminal to the US border near Gretna, Manitoba. The work awarded and constructed for Spread 5 was a length of approximately 171 km. This new ROW was constructed across the Canadian prairies adjacent to Enbridge's existing facilities. Somerville was able to recognize resource efficiency with its stripping, topsoil and cleanup crews by moving them from previous Spreads 3 & 4 that ran in tandem. The crews moved from Spread 3 to 4 and then 5. Cleanup and testing was done as one big project for all three spreads during the summer of 2009. Four sectionalizing valves were installed on precast concrete foundations. Somerville provided support on the South Saskatchewan River Crossing segment which Enbrigde contracted separately. The project was completed with our Joint Venture Partner Techint E&C
