As part of Imperial Oil's Pipeline Integrity Program, IOL identified an anomaly in a section of their pipeline under the travelled portion of Highway 409. To repair this section of pipeline they contracted Somerville to replace 276m of NPS12 by HDD. An American Augers DD185 was utilized to pilot by use of jetting method and reamed to a final size of 20" to accommodate the 12" Steel oil pipeline.
