Scarborough Reinforcement - Phase II

This project involved the construction of 3,900 meters of 16' High Pressure Steel Natural Gas pipe along a newly constructed residential area in Scarborough, Ontario. With the rapid population growth in the Greater Toronto Region there is an increased demand for natural gas supply. This pipeline provides the backbone for reinforcing that demand. The project was constructed in a residential area. Special provisions to ensure public safety during and post construction were implemented. The Right of Way (ROW)was narrow and limited in some locations requiring additional attention. The project also necessitated the crossing of Hwy 407 ETR. This was completed by directional drilling a 600 meter section across the highway. To avoid any possibility of ground disturbance the dril lsegment was installed at extra depth. Robert B. Somerville Co. Limited completed the first phase of this project in 2006.
