In conjunction with Albarrie GeoComposites, Somerville is a preferred installer of the SorbWeb Plus secondary containment system. This containment system is engineered and designed to provide secondary containment to transformer hydrocarbons in the event of a spill, leak or evenfailure. This system is installed in existing transformer stations, as well as in new installations which mainly consists of excavation of the existing ground material around the transformer base, forming of base and berms out of granular material, the installation and sealing of the different layers of the system, and the placement of fire quenching stone as a drainage material. Over the past 3 years, Somerville has installed over 20 systems of different sizes and configuration for energy providers such as AltaLink, the City of Medicine Hat, ATCO Electric, SaskPower, and others through such entities as Rising Edge Technologies and SNC Lavalin.
