In 2010, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) embarked on a subway extension program from the existing Downsview Station, to a new Vaughan Corporate Centre station at Highway 7 near Jane Street. A station being constructed at York University involved several utilities and services being relocated. Robert B. Somerville was contracted to complete a utility diversion of twin chilled water, a condensate, a steam pipeline, and a watermain. These utilities were installed in an underground concrete utility corridor and across a suspended concrete bridge required to facilitate the station excavation to the subway tunnel. All facilities were completed under a design and build contract.
